What's it take to get a scholarship from Dominion Energy Credit Union? Good grades, of course. But we're also looking at your entire school career - your clubs, activities, honors, work or internships, and community involvement. We want to know what makes you stand out.
Here are a few details and eligibility requirements:
- We award multiple $2,000 scholarships to cover tuition and fees.
- Applicants must be current high school seniors who will attend an accredited college or university during the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Applicants must be DECU members or immediate family member/household* member of a Dominion Energy Credit Union member.
- Graduating high school seniors must have a minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
The Current year scholarship deadline has passed. Please check back in January for the new scholarship application.
Please note: Dominion Energy Credit Union employees, directors, committee members, and their families are not eligible. You must meet all requirements to be eligible.
Please allow plenty of time before the deadline to submit ALL of your application materials. Late applications and materials will not be considered.
1. Application
First, please make sure you meet all of the eligibility requirements. Use the "apply now" link above to start your application. (Please note: Application period usually runs January through mid-March of each year). All applications must be submitted online. Mailed or faxed applications will not be accepted.
2. Transcript
Your application is not considered complete until we receive your official transcript. This transcript must be received by Dominion Energy Credit Union either electronically or by mail in a sealed envelope, but it must come directly from the school or a secure transcript portal approved by the school. Transcripts must be received by the stated deadline each year, no later than 4 pm ET.

It must be an official high school transcript for the most current semester available, with the total cumulative grade point average (GPA) calculated on a 4.0 scale and shown on the transcript. Dominion Energy Credit Union will not calculate your GPA for you.
Awarding Of Scholarships
Decisions are made by the Dominion Energy Credit Union Scholarship selection committee. All decisions are final. All applicants will be notified in mid-May.
Dominion Energy Credit Union pays the full scholarship amount directly to the college or university upon receipt of a copy of the invoice from that institution confirming student's enrollment. The Credit Union reserves the right to withhold award of all scholarships if too few qualified applications are received.
Please note: Dominion Energy Credit Union will not authorize the release of funds from the student's university account.

Yes, students planning to attend an accredited two-year college are eligible.
Please remember to request your high school transcript early to avoid delays due to school closings and holidays. Applications are not considered complete until we receive the official transcript. Transcripts must be an official high school transcript for the most current semester available.
The transcript MUST be sent either electronically or by mail in an envelope sealed by the school. Transcripts must come directly from the school or a secure transcript portal approved by the school. We will accept transcripts that are overnighted from the student/parent if the transcript is in an envelope sealed by the school.

**Late or unofficial transcripts (i.e. faxed or an emailed PDF) will not be accepted**
Dominion Energy Credit Union will not calculate or translate your GPA to a 4.0 scale. Please ask your guidance counselor to obtain the correct information and a 4.0 scale equivalent prior to sending your transcript. If students cannot send a GPA at the correct scale, they are welcome to still apply, but we will not calculate their GPA for them.
You can start an application to finish later. However, once you apply you will not be allowed to make any changes. Please double check your application before you submit it.

Dominion Energy Credit Union will notify recipients by the end of May. Recipients are published in the Summer Moneyline.
Scholarship monies are sent directly to the student’s college or university. Students are required to send Dominion Energy Credit Union a copy of their tuition bill before funds are disbursed. Recipients will receive a letter with information on how to request the check to be sent to their college/university. Recipients can send as soon as they have enrolled in fall classes and received their tuition bill.
